Year 1974. Ana (ZOE BONAFONTE) is 19 years old, lives in Barcelona, and is —in the eyes of her well-off family— a rebellious girl. After a nighttime escape, her father decides to place her in the Patronato de Protección a la Mujer, an institution specialized in “fallen women or those at risk of falling.” Ana is transferred to Madrid to be interned in a reformatory run by nuns and subjected to a brutal disciplinary regime. There, she will try to survive by seeking comfort and support in the friendship of other girls in the same situation, especially Sole (MANUELA CALLE), a country girl with contagious vitality who instantly connects with her. That luminous friendship will be what keeps Ana afloat.
