Oliver Campbell (Stephen Dorff), an ambitious American businessman, along with his old Peruvian friend, Ricardo Cisneros (Alberto Ammann) intends to close the deal of his life. Both plan to exploit an old and forgotten debt that the Peruvian government owes its citizens. As the months go by involved in their tough negotiations and due to the agreement that the government is preparing, the Peruvian health system is drastically reduced and María (Elsa Olivero) will try to get the surgery her mother needs on her own. Relentless in the achievement of their goal, Oliver and Ricardo discover Pampacancha, a town in the Peruvian highlands that considers their land the most precious asset. There they run into a severe patriarch of a family of farmers and with the landowner Caravedo (Carlos Bardem) who has his own plans. Conscience begins to weigh on Ricardo Cisneros, and also, in its own way, on Oliver Campbell. How far will they be willing to go to close the deal?
