Carme Elias began her stage career in 1974 with La señorita Julia, by Adolfo Marsillach. She later participated in several productions, notably in become popular the Catalan scene. She debuted in cinema with La orgía by Francesc Bellmunt, but her popularity continued to grow thanks to television: in 1983 in the series Anillos de oro and in 1986 she stars in hit show Turno de oficio, headed by Antonio Mercer. It also assumes significant roles in films such as Stico (Jaime de Armiñán, 1985), El rey pasmado (Imanol Uribe, 1991) and, especially, in La flor de mi secreto (Pedro Almodóvar, 1995). Her most recent films include Los aires difíciles (Gerardo Herrero, 2006) and Camino (Javier Fesser, 2008), for which she won the Goya Award for Best Actress. Without abandoning an intense and versatile theatrical activity in 2008 she returned to public television with the series Herederos.
